FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

-What is The SAVAGE BLADE of KING RONOK?

The SAVAGE BLADE of KING RONOK is a graphic novel book series by animation director/ comic book artist Dave Bullock.  It is self edited and will raise it's production and distribution funds via KickStarter in July 2013.


-Will I still be able to buy the Book, Trading Cards, Poster and/or Print Set  AFTER the KickStarter campaign?

I can't say for certain.  It depends on the amount of books pre-ordered during the campaign. 
If it's cost effective to print extras I will, but for now the pre-order # is a unknown factor.

At the very least a PDF version will for certain be available.


-When will the book and extras be released?

The book is planned to be printed and in hand for delivery summer of 2014.


-What languages will the book be offered in?

English only for now.  I do plan to make other language versions available in the future.


-Can I purchase your books to sell at my bookstore?

Yes, a minimum order of 10 can be ordered at a discounted price.
Just select the "bundle" option.


-How long will the series  be?
Will you return to KickStarter for additional volumes?

This adventure will be three books.
If book one of KING RONOK's journey is funded, I will be back for two additional campaigns in order to complete the story.
I have a three act feature film length story to tell over 135 sequential story pages (45 pgs/book) and plan to produce one book per year.


-Why is this book labeled for Mature Content?

   Ronok's world is not for the faint of heart. Think of his adventures as "R" rated for a mature audience.  Blood, gore, sex, violence and adult language are not the themes of this story, however they are a part of the world RONOK lives in and I've decided to include them as story elements where ever I feel it elevates character development and the drama of the story.                              
The SAVAGE BLADE OF KING RONOK will carry a reader advisory mark for MATURE CONTENT.

-Which cartoons have you worked on, and what are you working on now?

I've helped out on more than a few.  Most of them have been of the Action/Adventure kind.
I started as a storyboard artist on Spider-Man: The Animated Series, moved on to the WB shows SUPERMAN/BATMAN ADVENTURES, and have since directed JLA:The NEW FRONTIER, The Spectacular Spider-Man and STAR WARS: The CLONE WARS. For a near complete animation work history, check out my IMDB listing:

Most recently I have provided storyboards for BEWARE THE BATMAN and TRANSFORMERS: PRIME.
At the moment I'm finishing a short story for DC comics and am working on a cover for Valiant Ent.

Greetings Fellow Barbarian lovers!
 
Here's a peek at the book I'm planning to produce with the help of KickStarter supporters this July.

The SAVAGE BLADE of KING RONOK will be a 12 x 9' 64 page, full color, Hardback Graphic Novel with
Story & Art by Dave Bullock, Written by Vinton Heuck and Lettered by Jared Fletcher.

What's in the book?

King Ronok's feature story will be 36 pages.
We'll also meet THUNDA The BARBARIAN QUEEN in a 9 page adventure of her own.
As bonus content I will include a 15 page section of my Development Art and Guest Pin Ups by talents like Pablo Marcos, Ernie Chan, Rudy Nebres, Dave Wilkins, and Vinton Heuck.
More guest pin up talent will be announced soon.

Also a page or two will feature the names of the supporters with a dedication personally thanking them for being a part of this projects journey.

 There will be some fun incentives made available for the campaign so I hope you'll check it out when it goes live this July on KickStarter!

KEVIN MANTHEI SCORES KING RONOK!

In the early days of directing on the STAR WARS: CLONE WARS production George Lucas taught me a valuable lesson.

He told me the score was key to feeling the emotional impact of a scene.

Years later while directing a DVD toon movie for WB Animation, JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE NEW FRONTIER I had the good fortune of being introduced to one of the top composers in the field, Kevin Manthei.

Kevin delivered a jazzy score for JL:NF that embodied the intrigue of the Mod Spy era all while servicing the story and elevating the characters emotions. 

This fruitful experience left us both wanting to collaborate again.
